Welcome to our new Website
The Somerset County Sheriff's Office has a long
tradition of providing excellence in service to the citizens of Somerset County. We are
confident that our Internet presence will provide a valuable resource to our county and
state.
The Somerset County Sheriff's Office is a hub of daily activity. Ever since the Sheriff's office relocated
to the main entrance of the Courthouse, the sherif's Office has seen an increase in public awareness about
the daily duties of the Sheriffs and Deputies. This increased public awareness has made citizens of Somerset County
much more aware of the involvement of the Sheriff's Office in the
protection and ongoing safety of the county.
One of the primary duties of Sheriff Carl W. Brown continues to be the provision of security at the flight 93 crash site.
Visit the official Flight 93 memorial site.
Since Flight 93 plunged to the ground near Shanksville on 9/11, the Somerset County Sheriff's Office continues to be on duty 24/7 at the site, ensuring safety at all times for visitors and local residents.
Sheriff Brown had the rare oppurtunity to speak with such dignitaries as President George W. Bush, Former
Director of Homeland Secuity Tom Ridge, Governor Edward Rendell, and U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales.
General Gonzales spoke at the 2005 special September 11 memorial service, where Sheriff Carl Brown's office provided security.
The Somerset County Sheriff's Office has the unique distinction of being the only Sheriff's office in charge
of security due to an incident caused by international terrorism.
This high level security does not in any way diminish the value and importance of local community involvement.
